Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson

4.0

After a fatal car crash that took the life of her father, Amy has refused to get back behind the wheel. While coping with her new reality without her dad and her twin brother in rehab - Amy's mother has decided to move the family from California to Connecticut. Seeing as Amy still has to work through her driving trauma, her mother hires Roger, a boy the neighborhood, to drive Amy and her car across the country. The drive from west to east ends up covering more than miles and the duo end the journey with less baggage than they started.

Though this one did take me a little bit of time to get through, I enjoyed the premise of the book. I liked that the author put in landmarks from each state and really made it feel like I was taking the road trip with them while reading. I love the relationship formed between Amy and Roger and appreciate that Amy wasn't the only one who experienced healing on the journey.
