We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal

4.0

⅘ Stars

I wanted to love this book so much because of all the hype that it received in TikTok, which means that I had really high expectations for the book…. And it met all of them…

What I liked:
It had every single trope that I could think of:
1. Enemies to lovers
2. Slow burn
3. Tending to your wounds
4. Plot twists
5. “You touch her, you die”
6. “I was sent to kill you”
7. Strong female lead
8. Morally gray dark-haired male
And so much more.
The worldbuilding was intense and deep which made it so exciting to read and learn more about it.

What I did not like:
Even though it has everything I love in a book, the thing that made me give it a 4 out of 5 stars was that I wish it had a glossary of somesort at the end of the book due to the words used throughout the entire book. Even though reading the new words were translated within the same sentence, sometimes I would have to either flip back in the book to find the definition or skip the word all together which took away from the magic. Second, I felt like we didn't get to learn a lot about the other major characters in the book, we only got to truly learn about Zafira and Nasir but not much about Kifah, Altair, and the others. Due to these factors I took away a star, but I will definity read the next book.

Overall, this book is worth the read and should be in everyone’s TBR
