BLACK BUCK by MATEO ASKARIPOUR

Bloody hell, that was a wild ride.

Thanks to @tandemcollectiveuk and @michaeljbooks for the #gifted copy of the book. And thanks to all the readalong pals who created some great discussions.

This book is about a salesman named Darren, trying to make it big in the tech start up world that is dominated by white, toxic males. Thankfully, Darren, or Buck is a little different than the rest because he’s Black and has a sense of morality.

I loved Darren, even when I hated him. I loved the pace of the storytelling and the fact that I genuinely could not put this book down.

Reading about race and learning to be a better person is extremely important to me, but a book about sales is not something I’d ordinarily be drawn to. I’m glad I did read it, though, because it was such a wild ride and it has furthered my education on racism in the modern world; something that some people like to ignore.

I might have botched this review, but that’s cos I’m not thinking clearly. This book has messed me up!

Anyway, read it.
