Lord of Shadows
by Cassandra Clare
4/5 - The ending was so shocking and annoying
For some reason, I found the plot of this to be kind of boring compared to the first book. I liked how this got more detailed with the relationships, the parabatai stuff, and Malcolm's past life. I hated the ending, I hate the Cohort. If they didn't believe Annabel to be telling the truth, why didn't they pass the mortal sword to Zara? The Cohort's and the bigot's hatred for downworlders makes no sense to me either, how can such a small group of people hate a bigger group of people that could literally probably kill them? But I guess Nephilim just think they're superior above all other people?
I hated the lie that Emma told of how she's dating Mark. And she kissed him too which I thought was so weird and not realistic at all cause you don't usually kiss the brother of the one you love. I did not like how in the last book, Emma and Julian said that they would be more honest with each other but kept hiding things from each other in this book until their last moment in the cottage so I'm glad that was resolved.
I was so mad that Clary said no to Jace's proposal even though she knows that there's no one else for her. Saying no to him without telling him the truth just seems so wrong. I hate it when all of Clare's couples hind stuff from their lovers. Ugh. Same can be said about Diego and Christina, although they're not really a couple.
I didn't like Emma's lack of willpower in the Unseeling courts when the knight she was supposed to kill had the face of her father. I just thought it was so out of character.
