TOD and EOS tandem read-

Chaol Chaol Chaol Chaol, what am I going to do with you. You piss me off so gods damn bad and come off as the most misogynistic man. You blame your problems on women, its given incel. Chaol you put the L in incel.
Ok, not really and I am glad he came to the conclusion that Aelin is actually a good person and would NEVER burn the innocent people in the villages. But like come on dude, you say you “don’t know who she is” but she literally showed you so many times her morals. Just cuz she kills bad people in a brutal world, does not mean she is a psycho. I could write a whole essay on my feelings about Chaol. The chapter of his “realization” of this made me roll my eyes because selfish much? The reveal to Chaol that it was Aelin that helped Yrene become a healer at the Torre was so satisfying, mixed with Chaol annoying the shit out of me (I can’t mention his name without talking shit I’m sorry, I am just a girl with a vendetta).

Yrene, you will always be loved by me. She made the Chaol parts bearable. I am excited for her to meet up with Aelin as she will fit right in.

Anyway, Sartaq and Nesryn was the best part of this book. I started off hating Nesryn, because she is objectively annoying in the beginning, but I really like her with Sartaq. It was new and different, and I liked seeing their relationship progress. Kadara, I love you, honestly I wish you had more screen time. The reveal that Falkan was Lyssandra’s uncle was so good, so satisfying, I am so happy for them. I also love that Lyssandra is a superior shapeshifter to Falkan. He gives mouse, and Lyssandra embodies sea dragon. Excited for Nesryn and Sartaq to tell the gang that Maeve is the valg queen, and that is why she is literally insane. I am glad Nesryn got her own ruk, she deserves that, and she is going to be queen and I love that arc for her. SJM did a good job giving Nesryn a redemption arc…… I will just NEVER like chaol and YOU CAN NOT MAKE ME.

I’d prefer less spider talk, as I am severely arachnophobic, but alas I agree they are demons from a different world. The pregnant villain reveal was so iconic, you would never guess.

Favorite Character: Sartaq
Favorite Moment: when Sartaq and Nesryn fight the spider (gross) with Falkan’s shapeshifting reveal in the tower
Least Favorite Charter: lets be real, you know who this is
