The grief of having had unlimited privilege and resources to be the type of person that you really desire to be, but failing to make it a reality, is ultimately more damaging to you than the momentary fear of the unknown and immediate pain you will feel when making That difficult choice. For the characters in this book it is very literal, but for you, the privilege might just be that you are still alive and you still have time.
