Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

4.0

I will be honest with you: I thought about dipping this review down to three stars on account of a certain plot twist that made this book Very Much Not What I Thought It Was Going To Be, but we're going to stick to four stars for a couple of reason:

1.) maybe it wasn't exactly what I expected, but damn if it wasn't a fun read. Silvia Moreno-Garcia is rapidly becoming for me what I think James Patterson is to all those nice old people at the library, which to say that I will gobble up her books and like it pretty much no questions asked.

2.) more protagonists should be as fun as Noemí Taboada.

3.) explaining the swerve and why it didn't work for me would involve hiding the review because of spoilers and that's just way too much work.
