The Thousand Names by Django Wexler
5.0

It is rare to find adult fantasy that incorporates queer characters, let alone protagonists, without reducing them to their sexuality. To find a series that not only doesn't do this, but is also beautifully written and the most engaging fantasy I've read in years, is remarkable. Also, as someone who often skips the battle scenes in books, it is a testament to Wexler's phenomenal writing and the extremely human characters he creates that I read 600+ pages of military fantasy in almost one sitting.
