2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke
5.0

2001: A Space Odyssey was absolutely brain-boggling. It was definitely one of the best books I have ever read. It really made me think about life and death and where our place is as humans in the universe. Arthur C. Clarke uses technology to show what he and Stanley Kubrick thought for the future and how small we are compared to the universe. One thing that one might gripe about, is that we don’t know anything really about the human characters of the novel. We are just introduced to them by how they fit with the story, no background info about their lives before the present. They don’t have many emotions too, never worried, never sad, never happy. The A.I. HAL has more human emotions than the humans themselves. Though this is most definitely on purpose and is probably symbolic.
