Bream Gives Me Hiccups by Jesse Eisenberg
4.0
Nice.
I don't typically read things written by famous people (I have and they're in my "read" list somewhere but I'm not proud of it or anything) because I don't care who wrote what and I like to complain about the fact that celebrities are pretty much guaranteed to get published. As it weird as it sounds, I trust Jesse Eisenberg not to let me down. I'm not a die hard follower or anything. I haven't seen all of his movies but I have seen quite a few and I have liked him in each one. He just seems like a cool guy so I trust him. If he writes more, I'll read it. If he creates a perfume line, I'll wear it. If he starts selling bridges, I'll buy one and the warranty.
The humor really worked for me. I liked the absurdity of the situations. I mean I didn't laugh out loud but I never really do. I smiled and forcefully blew air out of my nose which is basically hysterics. My absolute favorite was "My Roommate Stole my Ramen" because it was almost too real. A freshmen girl writes letters to her high school guidance counselor about her roommate and college life. It alternated between cringe inducing, funny, sad, and grating. Harper was a strong character and I kind of wish she would send me letters because I was truly entertained and I didn't want it to end. I loved it. College is a trip.
My favorites:
My Roommate Stole My Ramen
My Prescription Information as Written by My Father
My Nephew Has Some Questions
Marv Albert is My Therapist
An Email Exchange...
A Bully Does His Research
Separation Anxiety Sleepaway Camp
