The Shepherd of the Hills by Harold Bell Wright
4.0
This book has some of the best imagery I've read in a long while.
"Below and far away he saw the low hills, rolling ridge on ridge like the waves of a great sea, until in the blue distance they were so lost in the sky that he could not say which was mountain and which was cloud."
"In silence the men on the porch watched the moon as she slowly pushed her way up through the leafy screen on the mountain wall. Higher and higher she climbed until her rays fell into the valley below, and the drifting mists from ridge to ridge became a sea of ghostly light. It was a weird scene, almost supernatural in its beauty."
"All day the sunlight laid its wealth in bars of gold at his feet, and at night the moonlight things and the shadow things came out to play."
