The Dragon of New Orleans by Genevieve Jack

4.0

Gabriel Blakemore is an immortal dragon who has been cursed by a voodoo priestess. Raven Tanglewood is dying of brain cancer which may have given her psychic visions. When Gabriel has run out of options, he cures Raven to try to help him. She discovers her magic powers and they both fall in love while trying to break his curse.

This is the first in Genevieve Jack's The Treasure of Paragon series, featuring immortal dragon siblings exiled to earth. There's quite a bit of world building, but it doesn't overwhelm the plot. There's a nice balance of romantic plot, suspense plot, and world building -- making this a really great first novel in the series. I actually can't wait to read the rest of the series and find out what the rest of the dragon family has been up to during their years on Earth.
