4.0

Many thanks to Jonathan Ball Publishers for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I loved This Poison Heart so much that I absolutely had to jump into this immediately!

This Wicked Fate is a spellbinding conclusion to the story begun in This Poison Heart. The novel delves deeper into Briseis's journey as she grapples with her unique plant magic and unearths even more secrets about her family's legacy.

Bayron's writing shines with its vivid, lyrical quality, bringing to life a world that seamlessly blends contemporary settings with rich mythological elements. The intricate world-building is a standout, expanding on the magical realism established in the first book and immersing readers in a lush, dangerous landscape.

The diverse cast of characters continues to be a strength, offering representation and depth to the narrative. Themes of identity, family, and destiny are explored with nuance, providing a compelling backdrop to Briseis's adventures.

This Wicked Fate wraps up the duology with a satisfying and immersive conclusion, cementing Bayron's talent for crafting captivating and richly detailed stories. This book is a must-read for those who enjoy urban fantasy and magical realism.
