Grubbs is back, and now he is having nightmares. He dreams of his dead sister and lots of blood. He is afraid to examine his dreams too closely because he does not want to face the fact that he might be turning into a werewolf.
Despite his lack of sleep, Grubbs is back in school and struggling to balance his new friends with his old friend (and half-brother) Bill-E. Grubbs wishes that his friends could get along, but poor Bill-E is mercilessly bullied by Loch. Grubbs feels bad about it, but isn't willing to stand up for Bill-E.
When the boys decide to search for treasure, things quickly take a turn for the worse. They stumble upon a dangerous secret. Meanwhile, Grubbs is fighting the curse and trying desperately to hold onto his humanity.
