Building a Bridge: How the Catholic Church and the Lgbt Community Can Enter Into a Relationship of Respect, Compassion, and Sensitivity by James Martin

5.0

Honestly, this book belongs in every Catholic Church bookstore, and every LGBTQ Catholic and their loved one’s bookshelves. I will be revisiting it over and over and over again as the years go by, and my only regret regarding this book is not having it on my shelf a long time ago. I sincerely wish every Catholic prayed about the call to respect, compassion, and sensitivity that the CCC and this book calls them to consider when thinking about LGBTQ people, talking about LGBTQ people, talking to LGBTQ people, and responding to LGBTQ who wish to serve in the Church and in their communities. This books was a hug for the soul, a balm for the scorching hate I’ve observed toward the LGBTQ community (inside the Catholic Church or not), and a challenge to always approach this subject with grace. I should return to the parts with scripture and reflection questions numerous times in prayer in the future. Thank you, Fr. Jim, for writing this book.
