White Rose, Black Forest
by Eoin Dempsey
A very enjoyable read but I suspect it won't stay with me for long.
It's 1943 in Nazi Germany. Franka is in her family's cabin in the Black Forest. She rescues a man in the snow and the story goes from there.
The book grabbed my attention from the start and it was great to read about what it was like to be a German citizen at that time.
The writing was a little on the nose at times and quite repetitive. There was also one gaping plot hole that threw me off at one point.
However, about halfway through, the plot sucked me right in and I couldn't wait to see where it was going.
The ending was slightly strained but it didn't bother me too much.
