The Mary Shelley Club by Goldy Moldavsky

4.0

if there's going to be a sequel, i loved it. if there isn't, i hated it. a few messy, haphazard loose ends that unravel it all- no matter how many boxes the meat of this checked for me, it really didn't even make it to the finish line on account of limping and throwing up so hard in the last 30 seconds of the race.

i still enjoyed myself. the second act is sublime. until the end i was planning on giving this 5 stars.

also, SPOILERS: i'm such a sucker for secret societies but i feel like they're ruined if the person we're supposed to be rooting for is left out of the loop. isn't the whole point that no one else understands them like the cool characters in their secret little club do? i get this is part of the whole deception betrayal arc- just a personal preference. takes all the coolness factor out of the elite little club
