Aristotle and Dante Dive Into the Waters of the World by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

4.0

I really really like this book, even though i almost lost motivation to continue reading at some point, I knew then and I know now that it was worth pushing through those moments! I feel like this story reminded me to enjoy live more, and that it's ok to have to deal with bad feelings.

This book is so much more than I thought it would be, touching on important topics and themes, the AIDS crisis and grieving being two of them. I was positively surprised about the religious aspects of the story, even a non religious person. My favourite parts were about trusting the people who love you and seeing other people, especially educators as actual human beings, because I feel like a lot of people forget to do that.

That's a big part of this story I think, the complexity of life. Not one relationship or situation felt shallow or one dimensional, there is so much to every person and every situation, you can't put it in black and white. You have to learn seeing the facets of life.

(God I hope this made sense)
