Meet Us by the Roaring Sea by Akil Kumarasamy

This book is really well written. There were many parts that I pulled quotes from and I felt the depression, angst, and sadness from the plot.
It is also really depressing. I know very little about Sri Lanka’s history, so this book prompted me to look into it all and see what is being described from the manuscripts perspective. I found these chapters more engaging, and had a hard time following the main character until about halfway through the book. There’s A LOT that happens with her, but with the way it is written, there isn’t a lot of time to digest. I had to stop frequently. I wouldn’t say I enjoyed this? It’s very heavy. But I did learn a lot, and spent a lot of time in reflection on the human condition both past and present.
