Hitler's Piano Player: The Rise and Fall of Ernst Hanfstaengl, Confidante of Hitler, Ally of FDR by Peter Conradi
5.0
Further proof that truth is stranger than fiction. When I got this from the library I was a little worried it would be too dry... but I couldn't put it down, and let me tell you - reading about Nazis on the beach in Hawaii feels pretty wrong, but I just couldn't leave it at home. It is the fascinating and true story of a German man, educated at Harvard, friends of the Roosevelts and Churchills, who met Mussolini, and played the piano for Hitler whenever Hitler couldn't sleep, while also managing his foreign press office. Crazy but true.
