Batman #55 by Tom King
5.0
This was just... perfection! So light, so happy. The camaraderie between Batman and Nightwing was just so joyful to read. The first few pages felt a bit repetitive, what with Bruce and Dick repeating each other, but it just takes off from there. They are just perfect as the Dynamic Duo.
King wraps you in the warm, fuzzy comfort of their banter and I have never seen Nightwing so happy. The art by Tony Daniel is... All I can say is, don't go anywhere Mr. Daniel, please stay with Batman. His art is just so beautiful and striking. I don't think it was as vivid as the Booster Gold issues, but splendid to look at and enjoy all the same. I especially loved the panels with Batman and Nightwing falling - you can feel the wind in your hair.
And that ending! I mean, I knew something was going to happen but like that? No way. It's just so sudden, and that's what I love most about it - we don't expect it, it's so shocking and unexpected because that is what life is. How will this affect Dick, his solo series and the Titans? I am afraid to find out.
