Oh yeah, this was great.
For some reason, I knew it was going to be great. And yet it still exceeded my expectations. I would be reading the book and would be enjoying it. Then suddenly, I would get this sudden rush that I am not enjoying it enough. That I need to savor every word, let them linger and digest them. I really did love it.
As for Henry's writing, it's beautiful. She takes full advantage of the narrative prose form to tell this story and I cannot imagine it in any other way. Her writing is sharp and engaging. She jumps from thought to thought as we typically do but does it in a much more eloquent way. Poppy is such a wonderful character and I love how it was about her journey and her growth. The love story was incredibly sweet and warm. While her relationship with Alex was a catalyst for her to grow up, it was not just about their relationship. Which is important and HEALTHY! Too often I read romance novels where the two protagonists teeter on the line of codependency. NOT HEALTHY!
Anyways, highly recommend blah blah blah. These romance books will be the death of me.
