The Ragpicker King by Cassandra Clare
5.0

In awe. I love these characters. I love Cassandra’s writing. I love how I can feel my heart physically ache with how much I care about these characters, and how much they care for each other.

This book caused 4 (FOUR) 45-second long wall stares in which I contemplated either crying or throwing the book at the wall, and then crying. I feel joy with every plot twist CC is so stunningly able to pull off.

The shining star of this series continues to be Kel, yet Lin and Conor are given plenty of room to grow and shine on their own (a good thing, too, seeing as we leave them at the end of the book being in new, scary, and almost equally sticky situations they have each yet to navigate before). I was shockingly moved by Lin’s goddess storyline (doubtlessly a symptom of being an agnostic Jew. It stings but oh so well).

I could not have asked for anything more from CC in this sequel, only for her to write the next 2 books as quickly as possible. A 5 star series so far. I’m utterly captivated.
