A Tangle of Secrets by R.G. Thomas

Overall, this was a very nice wrap up to what I’m assuming to be the end of this series, and despite this being my least favorite due to personal preferences, it was not because it was poorly written.

This pretty much had everything in spades that I don't like in YA. I’ve remarked before that often this genre is too anxiety inducing for my fragile self, and I don’t enjoy the reading experience if I’m constantly fretting. Here, there’s staying in the closet, bullying, miscommunication or no communication on all fronts, strife with parents, and of course, the requisite growing pains of finding oneself with loads of doubt and confusion. Toss in magic and the need to keep it a secret, less terrible ramifications befall our hero, and it was just too much.

Again, not my favorite but still a solid entry to this paranormal series that I feel is definitely for an actual teen audience. This is wonderfully representative, and more books like this need to be out there. I'm just not the obvious demographic, but I still applaud this series, and I still love my favorite gnome Teofil, who will always hold a special place in my heart.
