“I don’t understand people. They smile when they are mad. They hug people they hate. They steal from people they genuinely love. And they are jealous of babies.”

This is the start of Charley and Reyes’ story from his point of view. I loved it, but it was surprisingly hard to read. Having the story of Reyes’ past skimmed over in the main books, and now reading his story was emotional. I still loved it though.

There isn’t a ton of new info in this novella, mostly the same thing from Reyes’ perspective. It tells his side of things, of his life, how he survived, of meeting Charley and the undeniable connection between them. But it does give a new appreciation of Reyes Farrow.

What I love most about Reyes is that even though he is who and what he is, and having had such a horrific start to his life, he is still capable of love, compassion, and caring enough to help others. He is not the monster that he believes himself to be. This is what Charley sees and loves in him. Although the outer package doesn’t hurt either. ☺

If you are a fan of the series, I don’t have to say this, but I will anyway… this is a definite Must Read!
