Bones & All by Camille DeAngelis

4.0

I watched the film adaptation of Bones & All earlier this year - fuelled by a Dune obsession and also a Hannibal obsession, a perfect film to watch under such circumstances honestly - and when a few months ago I saw this in a local bookstore, and I felt like shit, I figured why not. The TBR jar decided that it was going to be the next book I read, and I figured why not.

I wasn't expecting this to be as enjoyable as the film, and I was right in that, but mostly I wanted to read it to get a bit more insight. I felt like I didn't quite understand some of the film, mainly Sully and his whole deal, and reading this did enlighten me a bit which is neat. I had a pretty good time, I feel like the film had more of an engaging energy but then again, this book is for a different target audience. Short YA novels don't really dig into it as much as strange R rated film by the same guy who did Call Me By Your Name and Challengers and stuff. It felt a lot more detached, on purpose, but that did make it hard to really care. Felt a lot like just reading things that happened without a lot more to it.
