All-New Captain America: Hydra Ascendant by Stuart Immonen, Rick Remender, Eduardo Navarro, Matte Gracia, Dono Sánchez Almara, Clayton Cowles, Joe Caramagna, Wade Von Grawbadger

3.0

I like Sam Wilson as Cap, he has a great and freshly scrubbed-of-weird-continuity and multi-layered background and origin story in this, and his little band of affiliates provide a nice support system. This is happening at a weird time in the Marvel U, though - with Secret Wars cleaning the whiteboard for a re-boot and various other re-sets in the making, one wonders how permanent this change will be, and how attached we should be to the changes. Regardless, this "All-New" Cap is a bastion of the ideals and M.O. of the legacy, and rises above this frenetic story at crucial moments. Story evaluation: too many villains and too much history required, though having Sam plow through Steve's Rogues IS kind of cool. Bad guy plot is needlessly intricate, and the "infinite elevator" is a little silly.
