The Long Way by May Archer

5.0

This book follows the first, now centred in Cort's foster brother Damon. After the events at the end of [b:The Easy Way|36196307|The Easy Way (The Way Home #1)|May Archer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1504780834l/36196307._SY75_.jpg|57824647] Damon is deetermined to expose senator Emmett Shaw. But his attempt is somehow stopped by Cain Shaw, the senator's son. And so is how an unlikely alliance begins.

I didn't like Cain too much at first, as I don't have a lot of patience for the 'poor rich kid' thing when the supposedly poor kid is unable to stand by himself because he wants all the perks that come with his position. But! He grows on me. He grows. And things are not as cut clear as they seemed to be.

And even when they have sex pretty soon, the romance is slow, as none is too sure about the other. The trust issues are easy to understand and see them getting to know and to trust each other is really beautiful.

There are very thrilling moments, and danger is never too far. And I really liked the twist at the end. I didn't see it coming, and yet, it was perfectly credible.

Sadly I don't like Michael Dean as a narrator. He lacks emotional tone and the narration on the sex scenes are hilarious, which I'm pretty sure wasn't the intention :(
