The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
3.0
(I read this book for my pleasure, and not school)
I hate character based books, because the whole book is based of the character’s personality and if you don’t like the character then odds that you like the book are small and i hated holden caulfield, he had this way of doing nothing and everything at the same time, also his manners of calling every person phonies yet still hanging out with them is the phoniest thing you can do. He was deeply depressed, so he didnt do much other than overthink and hangout with people he hates. The whole book happened in THREE DAYS yet it felt like years which again i think is wanted by jd salinger but good god gimme a break. Anyways i still put 3 stars because it’s still a good conversation book yk? Like i have so many things to say and to think about that any conversation about this book is better than the book itself
