Two Graves by Douglas Preston

I am back on the Pendergast train! I lost interest in the Pendergast series for a while, because the way his personal and family dramas were played out in the last few books got to be just too much for me. But this book, even though there was personal stuff about Pendergast as a key part of the story, also had the things that made me adore Pendergast in the first place in it. He was all over getting the job he set for himself done, and done in the way only Pendergast can do it.
I try not to give spoilers in my reviews, so I can't really talk too much about the story itself without giving too much away. However, Pendergast's family situation - which if you've been reading the previous books, you know has gotten painful and kind of crazy - has come to a major head at the start of this book, and he is in a pretty dark place. But WAIT!
Pendergast gets some information that fires him up, and he turns back into the Pendergast we all know and love - ridiculously smart, determined and clever about how he accomplishes things a normal mortal couldn't even DREAM of doing!
This book felt more like the early Pendergast stories. It had action, terror, surprises, creative components and far-flung locations all coming together to deliver a really thrilling adventure! I really enjoyed this book!
