You've Reached Sam by Dustin Thao
Did not finish book. Stopped at 15%.
Everyone is horrid in this book! The girl is grieving in her own way (badly) and everyone thinks she's selfish for not attending the funeral and countless memorials for her dead boyfriend. Does she have a counselor? Why is the school not giving her time off before graduation to recover rather than letting her come back? Why don't her friends (friend? Does she have more than one??) realise she needs help? Why are Sams friends such dicks to her?? I hated every moment of this book.
You can't tell me a teenage girl would throw out all her dead boyfriends belongings, delete all his texts and his number because she wants to forget. Teenage girls revel in sadness. We'd keep that shit for years and make an alter.
So I got up to the part where she calls Sam and he answers. No. Just no.
I couldn't read anymore. I don't get the hype. It's kinda grotty all round
