The Final Gambit by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
4.0
Ok so I truly loved this book, the best in this series so far. But The Naturals was obviously way better. I still can’t BELIEVE Avery ended up with Jameson, I was rooting for Grayson until he picked eve, even then I hoped he would’ve magically made a comeback. Looking back on it, it was obvious from the beginning of the book it was going to be Jameson. As I’ve said in the last 3 reviews, they all need extensive therapy and help. Avery is really starting to grow on me, I LOVEDD that she made her own decision and stood up for herself. She actually had a personality at the end. I forgot to say the but in the last book when Thea said “sorry, not feminism at dinner”, I clapped. She is such a diva. Rebecca reminded me of myself when I was younger, I absolutely adored her character. I love Xander so much and he really deserves to have a loving relationship with his father. This book had by far the best plot twists that weren’t as random as the last one, they made sense and shocked me(not that much since I wasn’t really into the book). I knew that eve was manipulative from the second I saw her interact with Mallory. She manipulated broken women to get information and had no qualms about it. If I’m really being honest, I hate that she was being used by Blake, I wished she was smarter than that and did her own thing, then I would have LOVED her character, but I don’t hate nor like her. She’s just there. In hindsight, it was obvious that the author favored jamie, and I wished she gave Grayson nore emotional maturity and let him push through the trauma of emily to be with Avery. Also, his trauma is so overlooked, I just wish they would all get help. Overall, this book is 4⭐️, nit 5 cause it was kinda boring and not engaging enough at first.
