My expectations were SO high after so many people hyping this up for years and watching the film in theatres when it first came out (possibly twice, even, because it was that good - or maybe that was the second film? -, and yes, this is my first time reading the books). Unfortunately, I remembered a little too much about the first part of the trilogy, which is why the plot couldn’t possibly catch me off guard. The writing is fast paced, which fits this story perfectly, but not standing out that much. I feel like I could have felt more as a reader? I did grow more fond of book Peeta and understood much more of the psychological part of the Games through Katniss’ point of view, which was a big plus. Finished it pretty quickly as well (although a library due date may have had a hand in that).
