I watched the limited series on Amazon before I read the book, and I loved the series. Usually, the thing I experience first is what I like better, so I thought I'd like the series more, but the book surprised me: it was even better than the series! It was fun to hear someone's impression of the music come alive in the series, but the characterization was superior in the book. Again, I'd highly recommend both.
