My Life Among the Underdogs: A Memoir by Tia Torres
3.0
This book was a quick yet evocative read. It felt like having the author shoot the shit with me while hanging outside. My boys and I have been watching "Pit Bulls and Parolees" after dinner. I'd assumed Villalobos Rescue Center had started and grown in New Orleans and I was so wrong! I appreciated the portions of the book that explained the roots of VRC, and I know the story of Tia Torres' left shoulder tattoo. I laughed so hard I wheezed when Tia told the story of Junkyard Joe, and I cried as she described the relationship "mi-ya" had with her son.
