Pretty Deadly, Vol. 2: The Bear by Emma Ríos, Kelly Sue DeConnick

5.0

I'll admit, I was skeptical of this series at first because I'm usually not a fan of western or WWI/WWII-inspired stories, but this one is particularly beautiful and resonates in that rare way that really hits the soul. I also loved the time jump between this one and the first one, and the focus on lesser-represented groups was refreshing.

The art was even more eye-catching (particularly the use of color) than in the first volume, and I found myself looking forward to the little fables told by the butterfly and the bunny at the beginning of each section.
