While this book was excellent (even if I wasn't too confident abouts its start), I find it hard to pinpoint what exactly makes it so. Characters are near the top of my list, but the world also shows promise to be pretty spectacular too. The only thing I was unhappy about were the cliffhangers - some felt out of place, even for cliffhangers. But even so, it was a very good book and I am looking forward to the sequels.
