Forever After All by Catharina Maura
5.0
This was my first book by the author and I absolutely loved it!! I’ve been dying to read her books so I decided to start with this one and it got me hooked from the beginning, the story is angsty, steamy and I suffered a lot with some scenes, Elena had been through a lot and I definitely shred a few tears with the things that happened to her. She and Alexander started as a marriage of convenience but I loved the development they had and how they both helped each other with the things that troubled them.
Elena had a hard life after her mother’s accident and she didn’t have anyone to help her with her mother’s care. She used to be friends with Alec’s brother but after her mother’s accident she left home and never saw them again. Now years later she’s in desperate need of money for her mother’s care so she goes to a gentleman’s club and there’s when she sees Alec and his brother Lucian again. She used to be good friends with Lucian but after everything that happened with her family she never reached out to him.
Alec had a wonderful family but thanks to his parents’ marriage and the betrayal of his ex fiancé he didn’t believe in love, and he only wanted to take over his grandfather’s place. When he saw Elena again he knew he couldn’t allow her to be at the gentleman’s club and she was familiar to his family so he took her home and offered her to help with her mother’s care if she married him so he could become the CEO of his grandfather’s company. She was also his enemy’s sister so he thought she would be the perfect wife to piss off her brother and his ex fiancé.
At first their relationship was mainly about sex but Elena was grateful she could help her mother and that she had his friend and his family back. Alec’s mother was very sweet with her and I loved how they all welcomed her back into their lives. Elena’s own family was awful so she deserved to have people loving her and treating her like she needed. Alec knew he couldn’t love her but he always got jealous when she talked to his brother and I loved how protective he was of her and how he helped her to get back everything that was hers. They had some ups and downs but their chemistry was always there and their scenes together were really steamy so after a while it was obvious when their relationship started changing.
I loved how Elena fought back her family and how with Alec and his family’s help she could find what really happened with her mother’s health. She suffered a lot and I hated when her family treated her badly, but it was nice reading how she got her mother back and how they all paid for what they did to them.
Alec and Elena faced some problems at the end but Alec eventually realized she was the one for him and I loved reading the things he did to get her back so they could finally be happy after everything they went through. The author did an amazing job with this story so I’m dying to read more of her books and read more great stories by her.
