I would possibly have enjoyed this more if I'd read the other books in the series, but not having done so I found it very difficult to keep track of who was who and who was related to who... not enough delineation between the characters.
Fairly typical of this type of writing, formulaic and at times overly simplistic, pretty obvious from the beginning what was going to happen in each story line, but it was somewhat interesting to think about how Woolworths operated during WWII and how much of a community it seems to have been.
