Ahh, what to say? *Slight spoiler ahead, you've been warned* Not the book I was hoping for. Faye leaves Earth in hopes of finding a husband on another planet, while on the ship she is approached by a man who pleas a case for his friend who has gone to the choosing ceremony for years and has been looked over each year. When she agrees to choose Torkel the man coerces her into taking money for her decision, first red flag! From this point on there are so many red flags that come up I have to shake my head each time and I found myself just waiting for the inevitable. Of course the inevitable happens and then Torkel finds out about her betrayal, only at this point Faye is not around to do damage control and explain what really happened. So we have an already bad situation that becomes worse.
I had a hard time connecting with any of the characters 1) of course because I really didn't get Faye, and 2) because the well, the book was a bit fast paced but you didn't spend a whole lot of time with the other characters. The saving grace of this book for me was Lindsay, a girl who Faye briefly meets before boarding the spaceship headed from Earth and then again later when 'shit goes down'. If the next book is on Lindsay then I might read it but then again maybe not.
