I was excited and skeptical of this book. I have enjoyed Grady Hendrix in the past and wanted to give this a try, but the content (a house for “unwed” underage pregnant girls in 1970) is something that takes a certain finesse and I wasn’t sure if a man would be able to execute. But this was so well done, it had its moments where I questioned things, but it didn’t disappoint. I also cried a little at the end so, a little extra star power for that. It felt like the emotions were captured well. My only issue was sometimes the teens seemed younger than I would have expected, but ultimately I think that was the point. You feel grown up at 15, but you are just a kid. Definitely check trigger warnings if your are hesitant, but the story was beautiful.
