Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

5.0

My Review:

What a powerful, wonderful, heart-wrenching read! I swear, Colleen Hoover knows how to manipulate emotions. With each story, she brings in a fresh atmosphere and strong emotions that always gets me in the feels!

And like all her other books, Ugly Love is beautifully written, captives my attention and my heart right away. The characters’ voices were powerful and felt real. The emotional aspect of this book left my heart all in knots! Hoover fully delivered a brilliant, heartbreaking story one again.

I fell hard for Miles and I just adored Tate. The cast of characters in this book was amazing and I really enjoyed them. I also felt that Miles and Tate were a powerful contrast of characters, yet they were also perfect for each other.

Tate is a strong heroine, and I loved that about her. And when she gets caught in Miles’ world, her heart really took a beating. But I enjoyed that she fought for herself and for Miles. Tate was nice, considerate, but a sarcastic and spunky chick.

Miles is, by far, one of my favorite male characters that Hoover has created. I think that’s because he really has a lot of emotional baggage, scars that run very deep, but he has one of the biggest hearts I have ever seen. I loved watching him get ensnared by Tate and, though he made some mistakes, I loved watching his love for her grow.

The chemistry between Tate and Miles was, wow, intense! I could really feel it; it was very strong between them. And, of course, I ate it up! But that wasn’t the only aspect I enjoyed. The character growth in this book was remarkable. Watching Tate learn about herself and try to help Miles was heartbreaking. Watching Miles overcome his ghost, his scars, and love again was absolutely beautiful.

The book played out wonderful. I loved how Hoover did the flashbacks that slowly revealed Miles’ past. I also can’t get enough of her writing style, her voice! I adored that so much about this book. It flowed so well. The buildup was suspenseful and very much gripping and the conclusion left me clutching the book to my chest.

Colleen Hoover is just a wonderful author and has, once again, made me fall in love with her characters and her story. Ugly love was a powerful, emotional read. And it showed that love isn’t easy, it’s hard and it’s ugly. But it’s worth all the pain and all the bruises.
