The Invention of Nature: Alexander Von Humboldt's New World
by Andrea Wulf
I wasn't as wowed as I was supposed to be. I found the book lacked any critical angle - it glossed over any personal or scientific flaws Humboldt may have had - and I found the detours into the lives of people Humboldt purportedly influenced to be confusing non sequiturs. An interesting and important life but not worth that much of my reading time.
