Upside Down, Inside Out by Monica McInerney

5.0

This book was ADORABLE. A cute, interesting and loveable rom-com. Just what I needed after I read a string of quite disappointing serious novels. When Eva and Joseph meet during their respective travels to Australia they are both masquerading as someone they are not. Eva as famous singer and sculptor Nimah and Joseph as a carefree, broke backpacker. The pair quickly develop a deep connection, however when Joseph is forced to return to England before they can reveal their secrets both characters question whether the connection they shared is only due to their false personalities. What I loved about this book is how real it was. Everyone knows how quickly a white lie that started as a joke can go and this book takes it to the extreme. The writing is terrific, the characters simple but we'll developed and just the right amount of drama to keep you entertained without being completely unrealistic. This book made my heart really happy and deserves five stars for being entirely wholesome with a perfect ending.
