most of my read through the song of achilles felt like a chore. I didn't connect with any of the characters, and their actions just didn't seem like they'd amount to anything.
then page 334 broke me. every page after it tore me to pieces. the sort of helplessness described in this book terrifies me. I hate the idea of existence after death because you're forced to know what happens to you, what happens around you when you're gone.
the ending made it worth all the time I spent in boredom reading it. the song of achilles is good if you stick to it until its end.
2 stars gone up to 4 with how the ending affected me.
