Loved this book! I didn't realize it was the author of so many classic books. I simply picked it up because it was about pioneers. I loved the author's way of writing. She is quite gifted in writing words that cause the mind to wander to different places. Her descriptions were superb. She also created very distinct characters. I felt the plot was rather loose... I wasn't sure where it was going. It ended very differently than I would have liked or expected. Still, I am definitely picking up her other books!
