I probably would’ve enjoyed this better had I read it when I first put it on my TBR 2yrs ago. I tend not to read books that centre on non-communication now and I needed Phoenix’s inner thoughts to come out of his dang mouth. I didn’t find him overly harsh, yes he was rude but she bitch slapped him enough during present day. I liked that she always felt she could stand up for herself with him.
What he did in the past and the way he did it was cruel but that said I don’t think he meant it to be. He also could’ve sent those letters at any time and opened communication. For 85% of this book he didn’t know what she wanted in order to make up for what he did. That was too damn long to work it out and by the end I kind of didn’t care much anymore. It fell a little flat and dragged a bit. I did love Lennon, I loved the curvy girl rep and a lot of those thoughts she had about herself and the bullying hit home. It was refreshing to see an FMC that was more curvy. I was a little disappointed that she lost weight in the future but I understood her wanting to be healthier and tackle her eating issues.
