Grace and Glory by Jennifer L. Armentrout

5.0

The conclusion to The Harbinger trilogy has come full circle. I just finished the book a few minutes ago and I'm a blubbering mess. I love this world, I love these characters, I love how JLA wrote a female character that I can put on my list of "my all-time favorite fictional characters ever".

I want to keep this short as to avoid spoilers for those who haven't read yet, but this was a fun and chaotic ride of supernatural beings. Let me start this off with the one thing I was feeling kind of "hmmm" and it was the battle with Gabriel scene (this isn't really a spoiler because this was a long-time coming and something that was inevitable to happen if you've read the previous two books). My qualms with it was that it was... short. The fight was really engaging to be honest. I love the action and the magic and everyone bringing their A-game to it. But... yeah, I think I needed it to be just a bit bit bit longer. Especially because it's Gabriel, you know? Like, this is an archangel and one of the most popular ones, and just maybe God's bestie. Who knows. That was the only thing lacking for me. Also to add in more angst and drama because the events that happened to that honestly hurt me, speaking as a Trinity Marrow stan lmao. But overall, it was still an engaging read. I love reading everyone in action.

NOW FOR THE FUN PARTS aka PARTS I LOVE. The romance. Of course. I'm so attached to Trinity and Zayne, and I know JLA always deliver with her couples. I wasn't disappointed. I don't want to give so much away because the previous book, Rage and Ruin, did end in a cliffhanger for these two and I don't want to take that curiosity away from those who haven't read Grace and Glory yet. But the only thing I can say is that... I love their love. It's the kind of love that makes me happy and warm inside; it's the kind of love I love reading in fiction where it makes me smile and sad at the same time; it's the kind of love that transcends through time, whether it's in the present or even in the afterlife. I love their chemistry. I love how they developed since the first book and how trust and honesty became two of the pillars in their relationship, something they needed to work on in the previous books. I don't know what else to say except that I love love love THEM. Also they're really hot together so there's that too.

Romance aside, Trinity and Zayne, as individual characters, were too fun to read. I love how they're opposites yet also similar at the same time. This may not make sense but if you're invested in these two like I am, you just know. Their characters also took a wild turn in this book, especially Zayne! AGAIN, I don't want to spoil much of it but DAMNNN. That's pretty much what I would describe him without giving anything away. And my girl, Trinity, she still has her wits and smartassery (WORD!) with her but she made me so proud when she realized her mistakes in the previous books (one major flaw was her jealousy) and she worked on that. And she communicates with Zayne!! Yes I have mentioned this but this still needs to be said here in this part of the review in regards to her character. Let me also give props to JLA for writing her, a character with RP, in a way where her disability wasn't swept away. This is one of the parts I love so much about this series. We have a disabled character who embraces it and her disability was acknowledged in the series but it did not at all define her in a negative light where she had to use it as a crutch. It's something that she embraced and shed some positivity towards it.

Lastly, I looooveee the Biblical aspects in this series, especially this book. I am no way religious but things about angels and demons have always fascinated me. I've studied in a Christian school when I was a kid until high school and Bible stories have become all so familiar with me. I like how parts of this book also made me realize some things that I would like to keep it personal. Overall, I think JLA did well with the nephilim thing. I just don't want to discuss deeper into it because we all have different beliefs.

Oh, and chapter 34. The entirety of chapter 34 had me crying so much. Just thinking about it while I type this makes me cry.

I want to end this review with a goodbye and thank you to Trinity and Zayne. I picked Storm and Fury on both a whim and a curiosity because "that guy who didn't get the girl in TDE series" got his own book and I was curious. And picking up S&F was one of the best things I did because I fell in love with Trinity and she means so much to me, as do Zayne and this trilogy in general, because this ignited my love for fantasy books and why reading makes me happy. I'm happy because they made me happy. I GET THIS CHEESY WHEN I'M SAYING GOODBYE TO MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS AND THEIR STORY OKAY? BEAR WITH ME PLEASE. So yeah, that's all. I'm still gonna reread this book some time soon just to focus on some details I might have missed. But, this is it. I wanna bring you the stars if I could, Trinity Lynn Marrow.
