Book Review: All Boys Aren't Blue by George M Johnson

ABAB is a young adult memoir focusing on Johnson's upbringing as a young Black queer man. Told in essay format, Johnson goes from his time being bullied at five years old to the long-lasting, solid friendships he built as a fraternity member at college. Deeply personal and poignant, this reads like a love letter to black and brown queer youth who don't necessarily fit into designated boxes.

But this is also a book everyone can learn from and it gives every reader a lot to reflect upon. Like, why is our sex education system so lacking?! Why don't we give children the space they deserve to grow into who they want to be? The list goes on. I don't like rating memoirs but I highly recommend this one. FYI, the audiobook is narrated, and I hear it's fantastic!

CW: bullying, cancer, use of the N word, use of the F word, sexual assualt, homophobia, and racism.
