The Girls We Sent Away: A Novel by Meagan Church

medium-paced

4.0

This book was exactly what I expected, but I did not expect the range of emotions that I was going to feel while listening to the story.  As a lover of history, I am very familiar with the plight of women throughout history and the barriers that had to be broken to get where we are today, but I spent about 80% of this book angry at the situation and that weasel Clint.  There were so many characters I hated in this story, but Lorraine and Alan were perfection.  My heart ached for all that Lorraine had to suffer through.  While this story is just one example, I couldn't help but think of how many women were treated this way and were faced with the same situation and it just broke my heart and enraged me.
